Bride wearing a white cape stands behind her groom with beautiful spring orchids blooming over their heads

When Samantha & Andrew reached out to me to photograph their downtown Knoxville elopement, I was so excited! I love the look & feel of the old courthouse downtown & knew that it would make the perfect backdrop for their wedding photos.

I met Samantha & Andrew at the old courthouse on Main Street where a small group of family & friends were anxiously awaiting their arrival. When they walked up, everyone cheered & gave them hugs before they entered the courthouse to say their I-Dos. First, they ventured into the Clerk’s office to finalize their marriage certificate & to pay the marriage license fee. If you are considering getting married in downtown Knoxville, you should definitely visit their website to fill out the marriage license pre-application & to make an appointment for your ceremony. You can do so by clicking the link below!

After signing off on their certificate, they entered the room where the ceremony was performed. It was short & sweet and they had their moms in the room to watch. They shared their first kiss & then exited the courthouse to the cheers of their families & friends who were waiting to take some quick family photos.

Then, the real fun started!! One of my favorite parts about Samantha & Andrew’s day is that they allotted plenty of time for couples’ portraits. We had over an hour to walk around downtown Knoxville (just the 3 of us) & find the perfect spots for photos. There are so many wonderful, beautiful locations within walking distance of the courthouse, so I was able to fill their gallery with such a variety of images & backgrounds. Plus, we were super excited to find some spring blooms already popping out…even though it was February & it was cold!

We finished our photo tour of downtown & ended at Lonesome Dove for their reception. They had the entire upstairs to themselves & their families were already there waiting on them to arrive. They had drinks, dinner, toasts, and lots of fun! It was laid back & intimate, not rushed….exactly what an elopement should be. And Samantha & Andrew said it was the perfect day for them! I think the pictures tell the story so well & it was such an honor to be a part of this beautiful wedding.
